The reversed Strength has no time for gentle warning. It bursts in, waving the red flag, yelling, “They are back!” While you might be tempted to know who is back, the real question is why they are back. The short answer is this - they are back to test you. To see if you have finally found your courage, embraced your power, and conquered your self-doubt. Well, did you? Or will you fail this test of resolve again?

The reversed Strength in love sees your old feelings stirred by the person paying you a visit from the past. But don’t fall for cheap nostalgia. They left you for a reason. They couldn’t handle you at your full power. Now that they are back, are you going to shrink yourself to fit their comfort? If they cannot have you in your fiercest form, why should they have you at all?  

When it comes to career, the reversed Strength reminds you of a former colleague, a job offer, or an unfinished project. The upside-down position of the card suggests that you are tempted to settle for less than you deserve. Don’t! Trust the very fact that you have outgrown whatever is haunting you. Don’t let the ghost of the past doubt that. 

The reversed Strength as a feeling is that bothersome ache of old wounds that pretend to be new chances. It’s the bitter shadow of “what if” that clouds your perception. You are clearly being pulled toward familiarity. But is there anything worth salvaging? Or will this return to the familiar land strip you of the power you have spent years cultivating?
